We Can’t Categorize People

We try to make sense of missions.

We try to make sense of one another.

We try to prevent hurt.

We can’t.

That’s why we have the Bible, to show us how to reconcile.

To pray through those love passages.

To pray for Christ’s love to cover us all.

To pray for the humility to apologize.

We are hidden in Christ.

God created us in our innermost being.

WHY O WHY would we try to identify such a being by letters and numbers?

Why would we try to place that unique being on a graph?

Don’t do it.

Out of respect for your fellow man, don’t do it.

Fear God, and remember that he created each one of us UNIQUELY.

The Chasm Between Church and Missions

This is how I felt once I had entered missions work.

I saw things in a new way.

Everything was upside-down and backwords.

Then the church and missions agency expects bullet-point reports on what you’re doing.

I did my best.

It just didn’t make much sense, given the context.

I know the church and the agency wanted to understand.

But some things, there’s just no understanding.

The Trouble with Disillusionment

It doesn’t help to deny the fact that problems exist within world missions.

The question is, “What do we do about it?”

Church is the place where wounds are deepest.

It’s also where we find the deepest healing.

Christ’s invisible church is worth fighting for.

That’s why we keep striving.

That’s why we keep sending.

But questioning the current state of things is no sin.

Criticism and complaints without action is one thing; questioning and striving is another.

So keep the faith.

Keep striving.
